“Blogger’s Butt” Select a Recumbent Bike, Laptop Table and Heart Rate Monitor

The air quality in Los Angeles has been hazardous these days  due to the  “out of control” wildfires in the mountain areas.

It’s not safe to exercise or work outdoors, but I check in with my garden projects none-the-less.

This is the HealthRider recumbent bicycle that I bought for my “Blogger’s Butt” challenge.

On the subject of “projects,” I have a very personal one  that involves losing some weight that I gained recently.

Thank God I have a recumbent bicycle that I use as my computer chair that enables me to be active all day long regardless of what’s going on outdoors.

I lost another pound since last week due to my increased exercise for a total of 7 pounds in 7 weeks.

The only thing I changed in my daily habit was adding my “biking while blogging” activity!

I enjoyed a positive response from many of my readers last week after positing my first “Blogger’s Butt Boot Camp: Intro” video.

I received lots of questions regarding how to select the best stationary bike, customizing my work area and  my eating habits.

I have a few friends that were inspired enough to commit to joining me in the Blogger’s Butt Boot Camp challenge.

I say, “Just do it, anything.

Start moving at your desk!”

I produced video number two: “Blogger’s Butt Boot Camp: Selecting a Recumbent Bike, Laptop Table and Heart Rate Monitor.”

42inch2

The “AirDesk” extends up and over your knees when you peddle and is strong enough to hold your laptop with ease.

In the video, I give tips on what to look for in a recumbent bike that will be comfortable enough to sit on all day, how to find laptop tables that fit over your knees without hitting them and the benefit of using a heart rate monitor.

The video is short and fun.

It will put a smile on your face and you may think I’m a little “wacked” but that’s okay!”

  1. It is a great system. Only time I can’t use the bike is when I’m editing because I have to be very precise with my mousing and can’t be moving.

  2. This is a fabulous suggestion as to how to keep bloggers butt at bay- I have a standing workstation and a swiss ball, but never thought of recumbent cycling until now! This is a fantatsic idea, as a mountain biker myself, I will be trialling this one as soon as possible…

  3. Hi Camille,
How nice of you to drop in. I hope everything is going well for you! I miss seeing you too. Hopefully, we can get together soon. Did Celia start on the front yard yet?
Thanks for watching the video and commenting.

When I watched your video I realize how much I miss you. I love your energy, vitality and beautiful spirit! Will tune in this Sunday. Did i tell you i was the new Director, Sales and marketing for Westlake Magazine? I wasn’t sure.

    Warm Regards,

  5. Hi Billy, Thanks for “weighing in” (I couldn’t help myself!). You are right. Power bursts are great for cardio conditioning.
When I used to run marathons, we used to do “fartleg” training where we would incorporate “all out ” sprints with paced running . The heart is conditioned to recover quickly this way. Good call!

Anna- I love having your support and I give it back to you. You are always encouraging everyone else. I read your blog post on your commitment to getting active. Thanks for spreading the word so our hips don’t spread any more!

  6. […] don’t fit right now. So I joined Shirley Bovshow at Eden Maker’s Blog for her “Blogger’s Butt” challenge. Visit her site and see where you can sign up. I don’t really over eat but I do […]

  7. I came to get a boost of support. You are doing a grand job with this and encouraging a lot of people and I’m one of them.

  8. Shirley – great post and wonderful that you’re making the most of your time while keeping your mind off the joys of exercising. I just heard an article on NPR about the benefits of doing short wind sprints on an exercycle rather than just setting it as one level and grinding it out. Even 30 second bursts followed by a minute of slower pace can increase fat-burning by 40%. Pretty huge. Great post!

  9. Thanks for the head’s up Lazy!

  10. Looks like a great product. Do you want to send me one and I will review it on an upcoming Bloggers Butt video? Will it fit my console? I have small handle bars on both sides of console. The clearance (inside and between the bars is 12″ at the most narrow point and flares down to 14/5 inches wide.

  11. Good for you! I hope you achieve your goals. I’ve been doing something similar by using an inexpensive laptop holder on my treadmill called the SurfShelf. It makes my boring treadmill workouts more tolerable.

  12. Link to air desk has a typpo. You are missing the htt part of http
